I packed, pushed the 500mts very rough offroad to save the OnTheRoad 4.0 🖱️ and then cycled once more to the east to find out that the cafe was closed this early. So I continued to El Calonge where I bought one more nice and cold softdrink.
When coming out of the minimercado this was the surprise. "Cold drink ? What cold drink !" Murphy said ...
But Murphy is actually my best friend then he waited for me to get to here and to not strand along the long non-winding road. He actually made the repair a lot more comfortable. Also since I now had the opportunity to buy another cold drink. I really had deserved that !
To bad, a roadkill. I don't see them often, but that is no plus. Then I hardly see any birds anywhere anymore ... The reason for that is that "The world has turned into a movie, but there is no James Bond in sight ...".
Some half an hour later I came along the third cafe along the trip from Lora del Rio to Palma del Rio. I decided to have some breakfast since I did not eat anything yet. That way I could concentrate at finding a campspot outside a restaurant somewhere in or next to the next town.
Besides that I like the system of getting stamps along your track, like people do when they travel ie the Camino de Santiago. The main difference is that those people obviously want to prove something (at home and at all antisocial media) where I do not (and have no home and do not use any antisocial media) haha.
And by the way 2 : the dutch travellingprogram 3opreis has declared the garbage along the Camino de Santiago as being the main problem. Although they did not clarify whether they mean the garbage or the people ...
One more tempting sideroad. The gates are open (which is a total exception) so I could take a look there, and ask if I could visit this farm and ask even maybe to camp there. For some reason I did not and continued.
I arrived at the crossing where a sign pointed me to Palma del Rio. So I turned right, and a few meters later I noticed at my gps-screen that I should have gone straight on. To the right is for the regular people, straight on is for the exceptional persons, like me. I turned, turned right and was heading for Palma del Rio at La Campana. The reason for this double situation is that the La Campana route has very bad tarmac, so you should avoid that if you can not avoid that.
However, "I take the bad road since that is the best road to cycle" is an anecdote
from worldcyclist Frank van Rijn.
He knows all about that since he is cycling for over 55 years now and clinched the 650.000kms mark already
in 2020 or so.
And so I did, take the bad road I mean, since I know that to.
Only one scooter also took this "bad road" in all 30mins, and nothing else,
so that worked out fine quiet.
And there was only some 100mts of bad tarmac anyway.
I passed another potential campspot, close to Palma del Rio, so maybe suitable for a stay. It looked an abandoned place but when I came closer many cars were parked there. They were just all out of sight.
And then I had the first glimps of Palma del Rio already, so there would not be any camping at the campana. I had marked a spot in the town's parc that could be suitable and even nice for a stay.
When I turned left to have a look there I saw this house of Mr. M. Verstappen. Obviously he had been training a lot which caused his F99 car to break down. To bad, hopefully they can fix this in time.
I inspected the parc, liked it, but realised very many people would be here very often, from the very early morning until very late in the nights. And although I know that by far most people are friendly and like a traveller like me I also know that you only need one bad person calling the police or townhall.
I decided to have a closer look in town, also since I had marked 1 other wildcampspot there,
which would be at next to the cemetery at the opposite side of the town.
That spot turned out to be a parkinglot-forest, although marked green as a regular forest in my gps-system.
There were also very many people making a walk along the cemetery, this area seemed to be rather popular.
At least for the living ...
Later I found at my gps-map that there is a suburban area next to the official town, beyond the cemetery,
so that is why so many people make a walk here.
They visit (walk to) town to have a good time, just as I want to do.
So I returned to the centre, drank a beer, evaluated my options (which I actually did not have) and decided to go put up camp in that forest.
But first I ate (half of) a nice chinese plate as a late lunch annex early diner. I would (or at least could) eat the rest of that plate later today so I would not really have to go into town again.
I returned to the parc through the old centre were the streets are very narrow and also wobbly. But then a car came up closer, closer, and closer and then to close. There is no way to let anything pass anything there, so wtf don't you keep a normal distance ?! But she didn't and I got more and more annoyed.
Then, in a corner, there was a little square, protected for cars by concrete blocks.
I decided to cycle on to it, but the space between the blocks was just a centimeter to little.
I managed not to fall, and then the woman came out of her car, panicing about whether I was still oké.
Yes I am, thank you .
A pannier had come loose and the frontrack had turned a bit, but there was no real damage.
I returned into the forest-parc where I had spotted a nice place directly along the river Rio Genil which floats into the Rio Guadalquivir at Penaflor at some 5kms from here.
So (t)here I am.

I cycled only 20kms with only 81vms (since I am still cycling upstream), including the towntrip, so it was a relaxed day.
And this is the interactive map of today's YesTrip.
I had a very good night's sleep, woke up by the sound of a dog (but at a decent time) and had a good tentmade coffee. In the meantime more dogs came along, of which one was very agressive (and ofcourse not lined). I knew how I would react if that beast would come 50cms more close, I had my skipole annex sidestand at hand extracted at full length and would also use the chair to counterattack. But luckily his owner realised "whatever" and took his dog away.
Palma del Rio, here I come !
